A LOOK BACK & A VISION FOR THE FUTURE

A look back & a vision for the future: Hope Restored Canada’s 2020 Annual Report

“2020 was a year of significant growth and opportunity for Hope Restored, a year in which we began to see that we can make a difference, especially for the participants in the holistic program that we provide for our participants. That’s what we’re all about.”

 – Gwen Dueck, Chair of HRC’s Board of Directors

Despite facing the uncertainty & challenges of a global pandemic and the unique ways this has impacted women experiencing exploitation and trafficking, Hope Restored has been able to offer our programming and services in 2020 in many impactful ways. In our annual report, you’ll find more information on the growth we’ve celebrated this past year– including a Tri Provincial Research Project, our first residential program graduate, the completion of 4 educational modules to promote awareness and understanding of sexual exploitation, and having our safe house open for over 1 year!

We invite you to read through our Annual Report to learn more about the women participating in the residential program, an update on the Tri-Provincial Research Project “Human Trafficking in the Prairie Provinces: System Responses to Domestic Human Trafficking of Youth Girls and Women”, how Hope Restored has pivoted our focuses of holistic restoration, outreach, partnership, and education in response to the pandemic, and the 2020 Financial Report.

In reflection on this past year, Lorie Harrison, the ED of Heart-Song Complex Trauma Program, shares: “Navigating through 2020 and into 2021 has been a challenge for most of us. When all that we know as routine, safe and familiar was turned upside down, each of us needed to dig deep to seek, build and restore an essential sense of safety, in an unsafe world. This is not unlike the experience of each participant who arrives at Hope Restored, seeking a respite from chaos and trauma. The door at Hope Restored not only offers respite from the dangers of exploitation and trafficking, it also creates the safe haven that is necessary to build a life based in healing, hope and choice. I’ve had the privilege of accompanying the women in this process and I look forward to continuing to provide trauma education and counseling. If I were to choose a word that embodies my experience of collaborating with Hope Restored, I would identify respect as being one of the most tangible assets, that I not only receive, but also witness in each engagement with the women we serve. I look forward to continuing to participate in the growth and expansion of this organization. Congratulations for staying on course through a turbulent year.”

Hope Restored is continuing to seek out further partnerships, please reach out if you’d like to join us in making a difference. We are so grateful for the many staff, volunteers, partners, donors & funders, board members, program participants, and passionate community members who have all contributed to the work of Hope Restored Canada this past year.
